i was having a rough week but still got up on stage with all these GREAT comics. Thank you Remy for the spot!
My new weekly comedy show was POPPIN! Shout outs to Daniel Perafan, Von DeCarlo, Mc Jin, Walker Hays, Kevin Gootee, & Tino Romero. After i helped bark pedestrians in & asked already dining customers to watch, I also went up to perform 12 minutes. This show i started not very long ago has helped me to develop nicely in a safe environment while exposing people to our healthy Latin cuisine.
last night, I had a blast opening up the 7pm show at New York Comedy Club. I was next door at our VSPOT Gramercy location working & hanging with The Cooligans for the Euro Final before my set. Tonight, i’m on The Village Lantern’s 8pm show then rushing over to Times Square for Caroline’s On Broadway’s 9pm show. I am truly blessed to squeeze in time away from our restaurants to pursue my love of performing stand up comedy. No manager nor agent, the hustle is all me. I am so grateful to be a part of these power house line ups.
i recently sat with Brandon Collins to discuss the craziness behind co-running a restaurant while trying to pursue stand up comedy in my spare time. Take a listen! (Episode 7)
Look who’s on Paste Magazine‘s front page in their comedy section. I recently filmed a stand up comedy set in their small studio of young hipsters. I try to do all types of shows from the intimidating “urban” crowds of the Bronx to the confused tourists of Times Square. This was a great learning experience. (Overall, it was mad fun despite two jokes not hitting as I wanted but hey, that’s comedy. Audience reactions vary.) I’d love to utilize what I learned & perform at a place like Knitting Factory Brooklyn where the crowd is similar. Thank you Brad & the Paste Magazine team! 😇 Check out the HQ video directly off their website – http://www.pastemagazine.com/…/02/alex-carabano-comedy2.html
